2014 race results and reports

Links to Senior and junior results

Clear views all round this year and a dry day. In the senior race a first Arnside Knott win for Tom Tipping and vets filled the first three places.
Annie Conway broke her own record by over 2 minutes to make it three wins in a row.

The race wouldn't go ahead without the help and support of:
Holgates Holiday Parks for the use of the excellent Hollins Farm facilities to stage the event.
The National Trust,Arnside-Silverdale and New Barns Farm who's land we run on.
Ian Bailey at the Runners Centre Lancaster and Ian Bullough at Arnside Londis supermarket for the junior and senior place and spot prizes.
THANKS EVERYONE!

Keep an eye on the race website and FRA calendar updates for the 2015 race date.
Possibly 22nd November so it stays as the weekend after Dunnerdale.

Records slashed across all junior races!
69 juniors ran in races from U8 through to under 16 with every single category achieving a new record. This may have been down to the perfect weather conditions or maybe it was just the promise of superb prizes, kindly donated by Ian Bailey of the Runners Centre Lancaster and Ian Bullough of Londis Stores, Arnside.

The junior courses take in the foothills of Arnside Knott. Rising to the Cowslip Field before dropping to sea level at New Barns Bay, all races enjoy an out and back route with stunning views across Morecambe Bay coupled with blistering hills. Some great performances were put in by host club Dallam; Maia Doherty was third in the under 12 girls; Pippa Darlington 4th and Daisy Ruxton 7th in the U10 girls; Ella Bird, in her first run for the club, was 4th in the U14’s closely followed by Abi Waller 5th; Jamie Waller who, “was only eight 10 days ago!” was 6th in the U12 boys; with other brave runs from Isabella Benson, Carla Gardiner and Laurel Ruxton in the under 8’s.

Junior winners were delighted with colourful t-shirts and chocolate bars plus the excitement for all of being entered into a ‘spot prize’ draw at then end. Many prizes went to the well represented Ambleside AC who sent along 24 of their squad and new records were set by winners Sam Thornley (U8), Harry Bowen (U10), Sophie Rylance (U10), Daniel Sanderson (U12), Chloe Rylance (U12) and Hannah Dirkin (U16).

All in all, a fantastic day and special thanks go to Holgates Holiday Parks for the use of their superb facilities.
